Daniela Biah’s stunning hair captivates any room she walks into. As the founder and CEO of Camel Glow, a hair care brand with a powerful mission to improve hair health, Biah’s personal struggles dealing with damaged hair are a testament to the brand’s purpose. “I started because of my own hair issues. I have androgenetic alopecia, and I've done everything bad to my hair that you can think of. Eventually I said, Let me try to fix this absolute mess that I have on my head,” exclaims Biah. After playing around with ingredients, Biah’s hair drastically improved.

The 30-year-old entrepreneur began receiving overwhelming attention regarding the health of her hair. “People started seeing how much my hair had improved. I would get comments like, What are you doing to your hair? Can you help us with our hair?” says Biah.

Biah had previously been a blogger, and like many worldwide, she was financially struck when COVID emerged. With little money, she thought now was a good time to pivot roles and try something new. “I took the last of my money and invested it into our first product,” says the Camel Glow founder. She even studied to become a trichologist to develop a solid knowledge base for her new products.
However, she quickly realised she couldn’t do it without her mother, Lilia. “She was such an organised person. I don’t have all the skills that she had. I'm a marketer and a creative. She did everything super important for a company, like handling the orders, the process, and finances. So, I kind of just was like, Mom, let's just do this, and she was like, “Yeah, let’s do this!”.

The Canadian-based, Palestinian-Mexican founder was always fascinated with Middle Eastern DIY beauty hacks. “I knew this [the brand] was going to be Middle Eastern-inspired. It was a way for me to connect with my Arab roots,” says Biah. What’s more Middle Eastern than a camel? Biah chose the name Camel Glow with the mindset that it would be obvious the brand was inspired by the Middle East. “Representation is important,” says Biah. In addition to the Arabesque designs on the products, watermelon hair clips, and Muslim girl Pjs, the brand’s ingredients come from the source, whichever country has the best. All products are plant-based, not tested on animals, contain no harmful chemicals, and are cruelty-free.
